White Horse Shooting Club

The White Horse Shooting Club was founded in the summer of 2015 to facilitate Clay Pigeon shooting events and competitions for patrons of the White Horse. We operate the club as a not for profit entity for our enjoyment of the sport with all proceeds going towards the shoot, lunch, end of season prizes and end of season meal for members.

We meet once a month at a shooting ground on a Sunday between October and June from 9:45 in the morning for registration, tea and coffee, where avail.

Why not come along and join us, you may be taking away a prize at the end of season meal... Every member is eligible for prizes and free entry to our end of season meal after attending just four shoots with the club!

Fixtures & League

2016/17 season fixtures are confirmed for 2016 with 2017 being planned.

What to expect on the day

Whilst we enjoy our tea and coffee registration will take place. We will organise which stands to shoot from on the ground, hand out score cards and split up into groups of 4 or 5.

Shooting starts at 10 and normally completes before 12. Shoot the stands in the order you wish to so there is limited time waiting around for a stand to free up. Once finished return your score cards back to us with your name written on it so we can record your attendance and performance for prize giving at the end of season. It is not only our top guns who are in the running, so every shot counts! Return back to the White Horse Pub for lunch which is included in the price.

Our number one aim is to have fun and enjoy the sport!

Safety is the highest priority. If in doubt ask either a member of the shooting ground staff or a committee member. The committee members reserve the right to refuse membership or even revoke existing membership without justification or compensation.

I am new to the sport and don't have access to a shotgun

That's great news. From November we aim to have an instructor to take you around in an instructor led group of 3 per instructor. The instructor will help you with safety as well as the basics to get you breaking clays. This will likely cost a little extra, and as soon as we have the price we will publish it.

How do I join up

Next time you are in the pub check out the White Horse Shooting Club notice board. Here you will find details of the next shoot along with membership application forms. Fill in a form and ask an existing member to sponsor you application. After your first shoot the committee members will review applications and process them accordingly. Once you are a member we will email you with information about each of the shoots and events coming up.
